HEDGETRIMMER SAFETY TRAINING (Operate Petrol Hedgetrimmer and Associated Tools and Equipment)

Training Delivery:

Training and assessments conducted by A Plus Training Solutions, holder of Certificate IV Training and Assessment (TAE40116 & TAA40104)

Purpose

Provide participants with:
The knowledge and skill to operate a hedgetrimmer and associated tools and equipment safely, perform maintenance tasks correctly and apply recommended cutting techniques as per manufacturers recommendation.

Location

Courses will where practicable be conducted on client's premises. Sufficient hedge or similar will be needed for participant to gain practice and demonstrate competency on the equipment. If sufficient material or venue is not available, a venue and practical activity site may be organised at additional cost.

Recognition of Training

A Certificate of Competency and /or Verification of Competency (VOC) will be issued to applicants who meet the assessment criteria required for this competency. This may require supplementary evidence in the form of a report from a suitable supervisor, or further assessment.

Duration

RPL Recognition of Prior Learning is allowed within the Australian Qualifications Framework: A Plus Training Solutions will recognise the fact if you have had experience operating and performing maintenance on a hedgetrimmer, or other relevant industry experience. Participants will still need to do the full assessment, but may be precluded from areas of the training where you are already operating within the requirements of the guidelines.

4 hours for most participants.

More time may be needed for novice operators with little or no prior hedgetrimmer experience.

Course Fees:

The courses will be run in groups of 6 to 10 participants at a cost of:

$275.00 (GST Free) per head:

Individuals or smaller groups should contact us, as we may be able to fit you into a larger group. Otherwise fees will be negotiated.

A surcharge may apply for any work on weekends or public holidays

Country Clients

Trainer's Travel and accommodation costs will need to be added where applicable.

Equipment

Participants will need to wear their own protective boots and hi-vis shirt. All other required equipment and training notes are provided for participant's use.

In order to increase training relevance and operator comfort, trainees are encouraged to use any or all their own equipment if practicable.

This includes:

  • Hedgetrimmer, tools, fuel and oil
  • Safety equipment
  • - Approved eye protection (safety glasses, goggles or perspex visor)
  • - Hearing protection (ear plugs or ear muffs)
  • - Safety boots and over-socks (recommended)
  • - Cut resistant trousers or chaps
  • - Work gloves (recommended)
  • - Sunscreen
  • - High visibility clothing where applicable

Demonstration of Competence:

From experience, we find that people have different levels of ability and experience when it comes to handling machinery. If a person, due to a lack of experience, requires more time to develop their skills, more time for practical application may be needed to increase their skills up to a competent level.

Personal Requirements:

Depending on location of the training, and availability of take away food outlets, it is advisable for trainees to bring own food and plenty of drinking water.
