Why Training and Why Us?

Why Training?

Workplace safety is everything!!.
In WA the safety and health of all people at a workplace is covered by Occupational Safety and Health Act (1984 & 2020).
Worksafe WA states: ".................it is the employer's responsibility under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984 & 2020 to provide a safe working environment and to introduce safe work procedures to prevent employees being exposed to hazards....The employer must also provide adequate information, instruction, training and supervision to enable employees to work in a safe manner. "

The Implications

If we don't get workplace safety right, the implications in human costs are enormous........ and then there are the legal and financial costs to be considered.
Worksafe WA states:
" More than 50 people are injured by chainsaws at work in WA each year."(Worksafe WA)
This results in the obvious pain and suffering for the injured people plus the medical costs, lost time, workers compensation  and possible legal penalties for employers & employees if they are found to have failed to comply with the Act.

It is simply too important to ignore!

The solution

The first line of defence against injury is instruction and training under the supervision of a trained and experienced person.

Three Great Reasons to Choose A Plus Training!

1: Knowledgeable & Experienced Trainers:
Training Director, Peter Tutt, has over 35 years of direct chainsaw industry and training experience. In addition to his chainsaw training qualifications, he is a qualified small engine technician (including chainsaw) (Cert III OPE) and holds a current Cert IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116, TAE 40110 & TAA 40104), Cert IV OHS (BSB41407) and Diploma of Presentation Skills (National Course 52364). These qualifications and vast practical experience, make Peter the ideal person to develop and deliver the best down to earth training solutions to meet the operational and OHS requirements of this industry.

2: Small Class Sizes: A Plus Training conducts training in small class sizes to ensure effective knowledge and skills transfer. Our trainees don't get lost in the crowd!

3: Highly Experienced and Qualified Trainer not Bound by the stifling VET System:

As of 1st January 2022 A Plus Training Solutions Pty Ltd no longer provide "Statements of Attainment" as recognition of training / assessment.
For the last twelve (12) years we have delivered our quality, specialised training services, the vast majority of which resulted in AQF, nationally recognised "Statements of Attainment" (issued in partnership with Equip-Safe RTO #0846) within the Vocational Educational Training (VET) System.
After twelve (12) years providing training within the VET system we have become frustrated and somewhat disillusioned with the ever more intrusive compliance requirements and constant changes to the "Units of Competency" that our training aligns to. This has resulted in many of these units becoming very procedurally heavy (and in my assessment, logistically impossible to correctly assess) which has diluted their relevance to the actual task skills and knowledge they refer to. After much consideration, decided that we need to continue to provide our traditional, high quality, meaningful training which is currently not possible within the constraints of the VET system.
For this reason, despite the exceptional working relationship with the great people at Equip-Safe, we have have left the VET system.

What Now: A Plus Training Solutions Pty Ltd continue to provide the same high quality, focussed training courses that we have been providing for the last twelve (12) years. By leaving the VET system, we are less inhibited to adjust our courses to concentrate on more relevant, targeted skills and knowledge for our course participants and so better meet client / industry training needs. You will see the same range of available courses however the units of competency codes have now gone from our website and been replaced by Australian Standard, Codes of Practice, Worksite Procedures and other relevant benchmarks for our training

Recognition of Training: From 1st January 2022 recognition of course completion will be "Certificates of Competency" (meet OHS act (1984 and 2020) legal compliance requirements) to those participants / organisations needing tangible evidence of training.
We will continue to serve all our clients within our new format, however, we understand and regret that this new direction may not suit some of our clients. For those who we will not be able to serve in our new format, we wish you all the very best with fulfilling your future training needs.
